One eerie morning, as the fog crept up to my front door, I observed a deer staring at me. I could just barely make out its figure in that heavy mist, but I knew I should have taken a photograph. Unfortunately, when you grow up in Connecticut these sights can seem normal. I’ve missed a lot of photo opportunities, but luckily, some people were paying attention. These shots capture the beauty of those eerie mornings and Connecticut’s extensive expanse of nature.
- The fog rolls across the sound.
Eric Heupel/Flickr In New London, on the tip of Ender’s Island, the boats break through, but the land across the water is almost entirely hidden.
- The USS Nautilus peeking through.
Jordan Meeter/Flickr In Conning Towers you can catch this submarine peeking through on your way to work.
- The sun breaks through an overcast morning.
Chris Burke/Flickr The Lake Mamanasco boat ramp in Ridgefield is looking a lot like a magical land in this shot.
- The mist is mesmerizing.
Jay McAnally/Flickr The way its reflected in the water makes it seem as if it’s raining mist. Connecticut is full of vibrant colors.
- The trees might be alive.
Michael Shaheen/Flickr In Milford, the light breaks through in what just might be the enchanted forest.
- A house on the water.
Alexander Rabb/Flickr This just makes me feel so lonely. Especially with that purple sky,
- A little rain never hurt anyone.
Michael Shaheen/Flickr There’s something about rain in the dark that makes me feel uneasy, but this picture draws me in.
- Have you ever been to the beach really early?
Mookie Forcella/Flickr In general, playgrounds are kind of creepy when they’re empty and quiet.
- The ocean is endless.
Michael Shaheen/Flickr When you venture out on the rocks alone, you feel so small next to the sea. It’s a great place to be deep in thought.
- This reminds me of a movie.
versageek/Flickr This is the part right after the huge storm scene that kills off half the boat crew and leaves one guy floating alone. In my opinion.
I will never stop being in awe of this beautiful place. Did these photos remind you of any scenes you’ve come across in Connecticut?
