It’s finally September, my favorite time of year in Michigan. The summer months are behind us, leaving instead just-right temperatures and a perfect show of changing seasons brought to you by Mother Nature. Here are some reasons why fall is the absolute best in the Mitten.
- Watching the colors of the leaves change before your eyes
Andrew McFarlane/Flickr It’s nature’s best special effects show.
- Visiting a cider mill
Fellowship of the Rich/Flickr There’s something about piling into the car and making the trip to the cider mill.
- We get to stock up on all the freshly-pressed apple cider we can handle
charmgirl13/Flickr Can you ever have too much cider? The answer is, no.
- And don’t forget the obligatory donut…
Deb Nystrom/Flickr We can’t think of a better fall combination than cider and donuts.
- While you’re at it, you can pick up your pumpkin at a pumpkin patch
Michael Patterson/Flickr It’s a lot of fun to go as a family to search for that perfect Jack-O-Lantern.
- Getting lost in a corn maze
erika dot net/Flickr This is the best time of year to get a little spooked.
- We get to visit a haunted house
ellenm1/Flickr There are more than enough haunted houses to see in Michigan, in fact, we hear there are more haunted houses in our state than anywhere else in the country.
- Nothing beats the smell of burning leaves
GollyGforce - Living My Worst Nightmare/Flickr Seriously, that has to be the official aroma of fall around here.
- September has to be the best month of the year in Michigan
yooperann/Flickr Not too hot, not too cold… Just right.
- It’s still warm enough to play on the water
Will Marlow/Flickr And just look at how the colorful leaves bounce off the water.
So, there you have it. Some of the basics on why fall is the best in Michigan. Tell us, what makes it awesome for you?
