Living in the Sunshine State is pretty close to living in paradise, but it’s not completely perfect. There are some common struggles we can all relate to that many out-of-staters just don’t understand.
- Having to go to work or school indoors when it looks like this outside:
Flickr/Matthew Paulson This one is really, really hard.
- Deciding which park to visit this time.
Flickr/John Malone Especially if everyone in your family has their own favorite one.
- When you choose to go to UF and your brother/sister/best friend is headed to FSU.
Flickr/chapstickaddict Prepare for a lifetime of “friendly” rivalry.
- Trying to figure out the best ways to deal with the ridiculous heat and humidity in the summer.
Flickr/bark Yes, it really seems ridiculous sometimes.
- Choosing which Pub Sub you’re going to have for lunch.
Flickr/Paul Kenjerski The struggle is real.
- Trying to stay cool with wet clothes and hair because you forgot your umbrella.
Flickr/Jamey And trying not to go ballistic on whoever took the spare one out of the car and didn’t put it back.
- Having to go to work when you’d rather be fishing.
Flickr/Florida Fish and Wildlife If you listen closely, you can hear a thousand tiny fish whispers calling your name.
- Trying to decide which beautiful beach to go to on the weekend.
Flickr/Daniel Piraino Seriously, it’s not easy to choose between the top beaches in the country. Pictured: Ormond Beach.
- Or which cool and clear spring to enjoy in the summer.

- And the hardest part of living in Florida is deciding what to do next.
