It can be a struggle to live in Southern California sometimes. From the high cost of living to constant road construction and frequent traffic jams, there’s always some sort of stressor to contend with in SoCal. Here are a few of the struggles that come to mind that we all encounter after living in Southern California. I bet you’ve had to deal with one or two of these in your lifetime.

  1. When you show up at the beach wearing tennis shoes and they get totally soaked by the ocean.

  1. When you head outside for a serene waterfall hike and show up to find there’s only a spit of water trickling down the rocks.

  1. When you forget to pack your sunscreen for a day in SoCal and end up with a nasty sunburn.

  1. When your family wants to come visit you on every holiday, spring break and summer break and all you want to do is get out of town and go on your own vacation.

  1. When all you want to do is get home after a long day at work and you encounter road construction at six ‘o clock. So much for getting home in time for dinner.

  1. When the temperature drops below 65 and your out-of-town friends make fun of you because you need a jacket.

  1. When out-of-towners drop their jaw in shock over the price of housing in Southern California. And then they brag about the amount of square footage they have back home that costs half of what you’re paying to live in SoCal.

  1. When all you want to do is go crash on the couch after a long day at work, but your friends drag you out on a long hike to watch the sunset because it’s just too beautiful to stay inside.

  1. When you allow thirty extra minutes to get to work…and then three traffic jams later you arrive ninety minutes late.

  1. Believing there’s no accent in Southern California. Until you travel to another state or country and other people know you’re from SoCal based on how you talk.

  1. Spending time convincing yourself that there’s nowhere else you’d rather be than Southern California, even though it can be a struggle living here at times.

Yes, there are lots of REAL struggles that people face in Southern California every single day, so these are just minor nuisances. But every once in a while it’s healthy to vent even if it’s over the small stuff. What are some other struggles you face here in SoCal?
