Here in South Dakota, we have a lot of pride. This means that there are just some things we simply will not do, because they are absurd and don’t make sense to us. For your enjoyment and reading pleasure, we went ahead and created a list of 11 things no self-respecting South Dakotan would ever engage in. Opinions will inevitably vary, but read on to see how many of the items you agree with!

  1. Eat chislic with ketchup

Natalie / Only In Your State Pictured is the CORRECT way to eat it.

  1. Complain about the weather

PJ Nelson / Flickr I mean, is there really a point?

  1. Say that there’s nothing to do in South Dakota

Chad Fennell / Flickr It’s pretty obvious that it would certainly be an untrue statement!

  1. Complain about the cost of living

TumblingRun / Flickr A low cost of living is just one of the MANY perks of being a South Dakota resident, and we don’t take that for granted.

  1. Refer to our state as “one of the Dakotas”

Seth Sawyers / Flickr Aren’t there enough people in this country that already do that?

  1. Say no to indulging in a delicious piece of kuchen.

Gourmandise / Facebook . . .let alone peach kuchen. Yum!

  1. Let a small amount of snow stop us from getting from point A to point B

Caribb / Flickr Not saying that the South Dakota snow isn’t a pain sometimes, but you just gotta trudge through it and make the best of it.

  1. Forget about hunting season

Bill Bereza / Flickr For a lot of South Dakotans, this is the actual “most wonderful time of the year.”

  1. Cheer for USD if you attended SDSU or vice versa

Brandon O’Connor / Flickr See this fellow here? He is a USD grad who will be loyal for life.

  1. Wait to bring out the shorts and flip flops

Lisa Moffatt / Flickr Because why wait when you don’t have to?

  1. Refer to this all as “Coke”

Mike Mozart / Flickr I think out of all of the items on this list, it’s 100 percent safe to say that we all know better than this.

So, there you have it! What else would no self-respecting South Dakotan do? Feel free to comment below!
