Rhode Island is a one of a kind state with very unique customs. Growing up in the smallest state is an experience like nowhere else. There are many thoughts we all remember having throughout our Rhode Island youth. Here are just a few we can all relate to.

  1. I can’t believe some people don’t live near the ocean!

Flickr/Matt How do they even survive?

  1. No school Foster/ Glocester? What about the rest of us?

Flickr/Jef Nickerson The buses are actually driving in this?

  1. The next snow day I am definitely going sledding.

Flickr/Don Rogers Nothing can stop me!

  1. When I get older I’m going to go to some far away land for college… like Boston!

Flickr/James Go ahead and dust off that RIC, or URI diploma.

  1. I can’t believe my parents won’t let me hang out in Providence with my friends!

Flickr/Doug Kerr The first time we were allowed to visit the city without supervision was a definite coming of age milestone.

  1. The summer hasn’t truly begun until my parents take me for the first Del’s of the season.

Flickr/smcgee The Del’s down the street just opened! Let’s go!

  1. How is the summer already over?

Flickr/Rick Payette It ends as quickly as it began.

  1. I can’t wait for my birthday so I can get my annual Death By Chocolate Cake from Gregg’s.

Flickr/Juli It couldn’t be more delicious.

  1. I wonder what life is like in a bigger state.

Flickr/Taber Andrew Bain Being just 39 by 42 miles wide, it seems impossible to imagine what it must be like to live ANYWHERE else in the nation.

  1. Wait… other states don’t have coffee milk?

  1. I wonder if I have the same accent as my parents?
