Nebraska has a big rural population, and it wouldn’t be unfair to call a lot of those rural folks “rednecks.” Now, we don’t mean that in an insulting way – rednecks have, for the most part, embraced the word. It’s a point of pride for a lot of people, as well it should be. There’s something special about Nebraska rednecks – these are just a few of them.

  1. They can fix anything. And if they can’t fix it properly, they’re masters of the duct tape jerry-rig.

  1. They have pickups, and if you promise them beer they’ll probably help you move.

  1. …And it doesn’t even have to be fancy beer. Actually, it’d better not be fancy beer.

  1. In fact, they don’t need anything fancy at all. Forget a nice hotel - just give them a pickup with a camper shell.

  1. They know how to have good, simple fun.

  1. Family is a priority to most rednecks. They’re loyal to the ones they love.

  1. They have the coolest nicknames. This guy is probably called Bubba or Duke or Buddy.

  2. They’re dog people. And they treat those dogs like their best friends.

  1. They have an awesome self-deprecating sense of humor.

  1. They are incredibly hard workers. That’s where the term “redneck” came from, after all.

  1. They’re really, really into their sports and recreation. When they pick a favorite person or team, they’re undyingly loyal.

  1. They tell it like it is. If you’re doing something stupid, they aren’t afraid to tell you.

  1. They’ll always supply you with fresh meat.

We love our rednecks – Nebraska wouldn’t be the same without them. What do you love about the rednecks in your life?
