Growing up in Maine is something special. From the outside, it might look like any other New England childhood, but there’s just something a bit different about spending your days with other kids from Vacationland. You might be from southern Maine or you might be north of Bangor, but we think some of these thoughts went through all of our heads in some form or another.
- When it snows…

- When it’s finally a snow day…
iyoupapa / Flickr “YES! I’m staying out here all day!”
- After being outside for 30 minutes…

- When learning the counties song…

- After getting back from visiting family from away…

- Going back to the quarry for the first time in the summer…
Susanne Nilsson / Flickr “The rope swing was totally right HERE last year. Keep looking!”
- When your parents make you bundle up on a cold day…

- On a boring day…

- After actually leaving…

- When mom goes to the Grange for a bean supper…

- When your mom asks you to get something for her…

- When you realize that getting your license is a big deal…

- When you’re thinking about a summer job…
“I hope I get that job packing cones at Deerings again!”
