There’s nothing like a rain storm to spoil a fun day of planned activities, right? Luckily for us, you have still have a ton of fun in Nebraska, even when it’s coming down in buckets outside. The next time it rains but you still need to get out there and do something fun, consider some of these activities.

If it’s not too bad a storm, take a drive. The drops falling on the roof of the car make such a lovely sound.

Go bowling! It’s relaxing and exciting all at once.

Grab an umbrella and your rain boots and head out for a nature walk. Notice how different the animals and vegetation look in the rain.

Visit an indoor activity center. At these facilities you can find fun stuff like go-karts, rock climbing walls, video games, bouncy houses, trampolines, and more!

Go roller skating. It’s fun for the whole family - especially when you can laugh at yourself for falling down AGAIN.

Go to an arcade. Who doesn’t love spending time playing arcade games, skee-ball, or air hockey?

Go for a visit at your local nursing home. Even if you don’t know anyone there, the residents will probably appreciate the company.

Head to a local coffee shop for a coffee or hot chocolate and a pastry…then watch the rain from the comfort of your warm seat.

Take a class at a local craft store. You can learn anything from cake decorating to scrapbooking to knitting, and the cost of supplies is usually included in the class price.

Head to the jungle. The Lied Rainforest at Omaha’s zoo is enclosed, so you don’t have to worry about the outside weather. Same goes for the rest of the indoor exhibits - just be sure to take an umbrella for walking between the buildings.
