Living in a small and densely populated state can be a little intense at times. The summer brings droves of tourists adding to the already continuous traffic jams and crowds. Luckily there are still a few wonderful places to go off-the-grid in state. Check these places out for a little peace and quiet with lovely scenery.
- Burlingame State Park, Charlestown

Yelp/Bound4Burlingame This massive state park is located off Routes 1 and 216 in the charming coastal town of Charlestown. Camp amongst the historic New England forest, and relax in solitude at this rugged park.
- Kettle Pond, Charlestown
Flickr/David Berkowitz Found adjacent to Burlingame is Kettle Pond. The pond consists of hundreds of acres of amazing swimming space that is also ideal for fishing. Grab a boat and go totally off the grid for a while with gorgeous scenery all around.
- Prudence Island

Flickr/David Smith Prudence Island is remote and quiet. You can take a ferry (with limited seating) to reach it, and once you get there you can explore the lighthouse, hike along several trails and enjoy an amazing view. Be warned, there are very few businesses on the island and it’ll feel mostly like a deserted island.

- Goosewing Beach, Little Compton

Flickr/Katy This secluded beach is located off South Shore Road in Little Compton. This stunning area is part of a beautiful small nature preserve. Be warned that this beach does not have parking and does not offer amenities. It is however a comfortable walking distance away from South Shore Beach where you can park.
