Ah, the candy shop. A place of childhood memories and adult fantasies, where you go to be lifted up by the smell of chocolate and (maybe?) baked goods, ready to slap down a couple of dollars just to take something home with you. Sound about right? Here in Nashville, we aren’t just known for our whiskey and honkytonks – we have a solid bit of chocolate-covered history right here in Music City. Check out these seven places to indulge, each better than the last.

Matchmaker Chocolates - Facebook

Matchmaker Chocolates is the brainchild of Josephine - the famed 12South restaurant - pastry chef, Kayla May and her husband, Derek. The location recently moved to Madison, where their delectable chocolate treats continue delight. We’re a big fan of their berry bark, although their truffles? INSANE. (2271 Gallatin Pike N)

Leon’s Candy - Facebook

Leon’s is a Nashville classic. Using family recipes that date back to the nineteenth century, this is where you stock up on candied pralines and chocolate truffles alike. All of their candy is made in-house, making for a neat experience and an intense smell of chocolate goodness with every visit. Can we have one of everything? (138 2nd Ave N)

Yep, move over Hersheys - this Nashville cluster of roasted peanuts, caramel and toasted marshmallow ALL covered up in milk chocolate is the DREAM. You wouldn’t have a Snickers or a Reeses or a Take5 bar without it. You can visit the GooGoo Shop downtown, where you can have a sample and learn all about the historic Music City candy.
