The zombie apocalypse could happen tomorrow. It could even happen today. The biggest key to survival is being prepared. If you don’t know where your safe place is yet then you’re in pretty bad shape. But lucky for you, I have a couple of ideas. The more of you that survive this thing, the less zombies I’ll have to fight off.
- Mystic Seaport - Mystic
Dawn/Flickr One of the best places to be is on a boat, and there’s plenty around here. Hopefully they’ll let you aboard. You’ll also be close to food stuff and on still waters. Not to mention decent storage space for the stockpile.
- Tory’s Cave - New Milford
H. Morrow Long/Flickr Best disguise ever. What looks like just a hole is actually a fifty foot tube that opens in to a room underground. You’ll have to fortify the entrance and be wary of bats though.
- Naval Submarine Base New London - Groton

- Penfield Reef Light House - Fairfeild
Steve913/Wikipedia By now you’ve probably noticed a theme. Water equals safety since zombies can’t swim. Only a few lighthouses left are actually in the middle of water. It’s all the safety of a boat but with all the comforts of a house.
- The Quiet Corner
Magicpiano/Wikipedia This place is hideout heaven. Rivers, lakes, elevated flat lands and wide open spaces. Not to mention farms. I happen to love the Quinebaug River in Thompson but any corner of the corner will do.
- Haystack Mountain - Norfolk
Morrowlong/Wikipedia Uninhabited and hard to access for the undead. The only problem here would be access to food. You’d need some strong team members to go out and bring supplies back up the mountain.
- Arrigoni Bridge - Portland
denimadept/Wikipedia If you can block and fortify the entrances you’d have a stretch of sanctuary. You’d be safe and practically untouchable. Not to mention supplies you can see in both directions.
