Summer is right around the corner, and there’s no better way to spend a hot afternoon than taking a dip in a beautiful swimming hole. Oregon has tons of amazing swimming holes to check out, although they’re not always easy to find. Last summer we compiled a list of awesome places to swim, and to commence the sunny season we decided to do some research to bring you these eight more little-known swimming holes that will positively blow you away.

  1. Cavitt Creek Falls

  1. Steelhead Falls

flickr/ Bureau of Land Manageme Steelhead Falls is an incredible waterfall on the Deschutes river near Terrebonne. A short walk past the falls you’ll find to great little beach where you can swim.

  1. Youngs River Falls

flickr/ Ian Sane Swim in the basin of the beautiful Youngs River Falls in Clatsop County. This 50 foot waterfall cascades into a deep pool rimmed with a stoney beach. Located south of Astoria.

  1. Quartzville Creek

flickr/ Bureau of Land Manageme Quartzville Creek is a stunning tributary of the Santiam River. There are plenty of places to take a dip in the creek’s turquoise water, including the popular swimming hole at the Yellowbottom Recreation Site.

  1. Tamolich Pool

flickr/ Michael, Mike….Your choice~ Tamolich Pool (AKA Blue Pool) is an incredible natural wonder on the McKenzie River. This gorgeous pool is an outstanding blue color and the water is very chilly but refreshing.

  1. Lake of the Woods

  1. Sharps Creek

  1. Three Pools

flickr/ Christopher Somes Three Pools is arguably one of the best places to cool off on a hot day in Oregon. These three pristine natural pools are carved into interesting rock formations along the Little North Fork Santiam River. If you can, try to go on a weekday when it may be less crowded.
