Virginia is not for haters…quite the opposite is true. But if you have to ask us if there’s anything we strongly dislike about living here, we could come up with a few things. See if you can relate to anything on the list.

  1. Humidity in the summer

niXerKG/flickr In July and August, it can feel like you’re walking through water. Or hot lava.

  1. Mosquitos

  1. Potholes

darius norvilas/flickr Nothing’s worse than driving over a pothole you didn’t see. They seem to be especially bad after snow.

  1. Anyone who mocks our love of history

Harvey Barrison/flickr Virginians are proud of having such a history. Mockery is clearly just jealousy.

  1. Anyone who mocks us for saying “y’all”

Ross G. Strachan/flickr There’s nothing exaggerated about how we say it: just a simple abbreviation of you and all. Is efficiency anything to make fun of?

  1. Heavy traffic

1-95 during the work week or 64 headed east during summer holiday weekends…brace yourself for traffic.

  1. Litter

Kate Ter Haar/flickr Thank goodness for the Adopt-A-Highway programs. We love seeing wildflowers on the side of the interstate, not trash!

  1. Unpredictable weather

Brad Frost/flickr Heavy rain…sunshine…and a chance of snow this weekend.

  1. Knowing that living in Virginia has ruined you for living anywhere else
