Your next delayed flight just got a whole lot more entertaining at PDX. Hollywood Theatre installed a 17-seat microcinema at the airport for your free viewing pleasure, and it is just one of the many things that make our airport voted number 1 for four consecutive years by Travel + Leisure.

Located on Concourse C, the cinema features G-rated films made by Oregon filmmakers that run all day and night to keep you entertained, no matter your schedule.

Modeled after the classic Hollywood Theatre’s marquee in the Hollywood district, the micro theater boasts a $200,000 projection and sound system so that watching movies on the concourse is as state-of-the-art as in the original theater.

It took a lot of work to get the marquee in the building and up, but now that it is there, it fits right in the flow of the airport.

There is only one other airport in the country that offers movies on the concourse, and there it is more of a screening room than a standalone theater like in Portland, making our new airport offering especially unique.

Meant to be used by both workers and travelers, our little airport cinema is exposing Oregon film to people traveling to and through our state, and giving it a much wider audience.

Next time you have to spend a little extra time at the airport, instead of being upset, head on over to Concourse C and take in a short film while you wait. You will be happy you did, and it may just change the way you think about airport delays going forward.
