The snowfall in Wyoming in the winter of 2016/17 set records, prompting the National Weather Service to confirm that it was the snowiest winter on record for the state. With that ordeal still fresh in everyone’s minds, no one is ready to even think about winter yet.

Chin up, though. There’s good news for Wyoming this year. According to the Farmers’ Almanac, the upcoming winter is going to be mild compared to last year, with temperatures and snowfall closer to what we’re used to.

You can’t get away from snow in Wyoming, though the 2017/18 winter won’t bring as much snow to the Cowboy State as last winter did.

This year, however, the Farmers’ Almanac is predicting a comparatively dry winter.

The key word in the forecast is comparatively. There will still be snow, but it’s expected to be in more normal amounts.

That should mean plenty of snow for all the winter sports you love to participate in…

…but driving conditions shouldn’t be as treacherous as they were last year.

Of course, there’s always the chance that cold fronts could sweep down from Canada, and a few unexpected storms could come in off the Pacific, but the Almanac says that any surprises like those should be offset by mild, drier weather the rest of the time.
