How many times a day do you see a tractor alongside the road? Once? Twice? Too many times to count? Seeing as though Kansas is a huge hub for agriculture, it is not uncommon to see tractors farming the land throughout the year… however, seeing tractors at their lowest (AKA, in a salvage yard) is somewhat of an eerie sight, as shown by these pictures from Weller Tractor Salvage in Great Bend.

Since 1962, Weller Tractor Salvage has been Kansas’s premiere tractor salvage yard, housing Caterpillar, Case, and John Deere parts.

Today Weller’s is one of the largest heavy equipment yards in not only the state, but in the Midwest, housing more than 50,000 parts.

“There’s a lot of history in a junk yard. ‘George J. Shaw Construction Co. has been serving the greater Kansas City metropolitan area since 1928.’ And still does,” states the photo caption on the company’s Facebook page.

Don’t worry; just because the parts are in the yard it doesn’t mean they are necessarily gone forever. In fact most of the parts and equipment are bought on a daily basis.
