It’s hard to find a “beautiful” campground in the heart of Nashville, as we’ve seen the city grow exponentially in the last couple of years. The miles of countryside are waning, which means you’ll need to head out to our surrounding towns and pockets hills and valleys in order to pitch a tent in the wilderness. But then we found Anderson Road Campground, and its centralized location is great if you’re looking to explore Nashville from the comfort of your camper – with a view. Intrigued?
Nashville Camping - TripAdvisor At first look, Anderson Road Campground may just look like any another campground. It appears pretty normal and fairly plain, and is home to 37 shaded and perfectly spacious campsites. Of course, there is a bit of a twist - but you’ll have to wait for it.
SmithsonFamily - TripAdvisor You’ll be able to utilize their dump station, picnic shelters, playground and flush toilets (score!). Although fairly rugged, Anderson Road still provides all the necessary pieces for a comfortable camping experience.
Smithson Family - TripAdvisor Oh, and this beautiful lakeview, as well. And when we say beautiful? It’s stunning. Just take a look at that sunrise right there…
Smithson Family - TripAdvisor Considered a, “lakeside oasis,” Anderson Road backs right up to the J. Percy Priest Dam and Lake. It is a Corps of Engineers campground, and the lake itself was one of the first C of E lakes to actually be created in part for recreational purposes. It exists on 19,087 acres of both grassy and wooded areas.
Smithson Family - TripAdvisor A simple campground, a stunning location. You can hike the Anderson Road Fitness Trail, fish for large and smallmouth bass, crappie and Cherokee bass in the lake, or go boating on the water.
Smithson Family - TripAdvisor You’ll want to check out availability before you plan your vacation, because you’ve wandered across one of the most popular campgrounds in Middle Tennessee. You’re not going to want to miss it…
