While North Dakota holds claim to the name Peace Garden State for holding the widely-known International Peace Garden, this little garden tucked away in a small town is its own hidden gem in the state. Not only is it beautifully maintained to have lovely arrangements of flora galore, artists from all over the country have contributed amazing works of art that are placed throughout the garden. Take a pleasant walk through the Rainbow Garden in Mayville, ND, and this is what you’ll find:

Even if you don’t think of yourself as a gardening expert or an art critic, anyone can appreciate a delightful walk surrounded by peace, quiet, and beauty as a great way to take a pause from life and stop to smell the roses - literally!

I love being able to visit places like these! You can really see the hard work and passion that goes into maintaining it and keeping it open for all to enjoy. Jo Ewen, the original keeper of the garden who put her heart and soul into this place, unfortunately passed away June of this year at the age of 85. Her Rainbow Garden remains open and will continue to in order to keep opening the eyes of all that enter the garden to culture and natural beauty, right here in North Dakota.
