There are certain places you simply don’t go after dark, and Bragg Road in Saratoga is definitely one of them. But I know some of you braver souls won’t heed my warning, so here’s the story behind the infamous ghostly light and apparition that are said to haunt this eight-mile stretch of land.

Legend has it that back when the road used to be a railroad route, the conductor lost his head in a tragic derailing accident.

Now, he’s eternally doomed to haunt the area, making his presence known by shining the lantern that hung in the front of the train.

Upon entering and throughout your drive, you’ll encounter several signs describing the road’s history and giving you more information about the specter you’ll encounter. Only the bravest souls will dare exit their vehicles at night to read them…

Although no clear pictures of the light can be easily found, I can attest to its existence. Every single time my family and I have visited Bragg Road, we’ve seen its dim, haunting glow.
