Now that summer’s in full swing, you need to spend some quality time in Arkansas’ great outdoors. What better way to do that than by taking a hike? Here’s one hike that’s a little on the strenuous side, but well worth your effort.
You’ll find the Caddo Bend Trail at Lake Ouachita near Mountain Pine. It’s a 3.8 mile loop that takes you around the lake’s peninsula.

The trail is shady and pleasant, but it’s rated as strenuous, so make sure your fitness level is up to the task.

Parts of the trail are rocky and very steep. Bring hiking poles with you, and make sure to wear sturdy shoes with good traction.
