Canyon Creek Meadows is a breathtakingly beautiful alpine meadow located high up in the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness. The clearing is rimmed by magnificent peaks and ribboned with crystal clear streams, and for much of the summer, the fields are alight with thousands of colorful wildflowers. This hidden gem is truly enchanting.

flickr/ Ed Keith Bring along a picnic if you’d like, and spend some time relaxing in the sun. But always be sure to clean up after yourself and leave no trace behind.
flickr/ Ed Keith If you’re feeling adventurous, you can continue along a short but very steep trail that will lead you to this hidden glacial lake beneath the peak of Three Fingered Jack. You’ll have to do a bit of scrambling to get there. Keep an eye out for mountain goats (I saw 11 when I was there last week!) and if you do see them, don’t disturb them.
flickr/ Ed Keith If you want to extend your stay, you can hike in with your camping gear and pitch your tent in the trees. It can be windy at night, so you’ll want the coverage. There’s a no fire rule, so be sure to bring lots of layers and pre-made food. Stay up late to see a magnificent night sky.
