When the thermometer rises, it’s the perfect time to go out to eat. You don’t heat the house up, and you can sit back and enjoy a little break from cooking. How does a gooey, cheesy pizza sound? Here’s a little hole-in-the-wall pizzeria that doesn’t look like much on the outside, but serves up a delicious pie.
Caserta Pizzeria has been serving up delicious pizza pies since 1953. It’s located at 121 Spruce Street in Providence.
The inside isn’t fancy, either, but there’s plenty of seating so you can enjoy an evening with all your friends.

The menu here is very simple. The pizzas come in two sizes: small and large. This is the small - it comes with six slices.

The large is baked in a rectangle, and it’s sliced into 12 squares. All the pizzas are baked to perfection. The crust is crisp and has a nice chew; the toppings are high quality and plentiful.

The Wimpy Skippy is the house specialty, and it has a cool story behind it.
Caserta Pizzeria/Facebook The original owner had two friends nicknamed “Wimpy” and “Skippy.” They enjoyed lots of late nights dancing and partying. One early morning, after a long night, the owner and his friends met at the pizzeria for a snack of spinach pies. The friends suggested adding cheese and pepperoni to the pie, and the Wimpy Skippy was born. It’s still a favorite today.
The slogan here is, “If you’re not eating Caserta’s, you’re not eating pizza.” We couldn’t agree more.
