Deep Creek Lake, less than 200 miles outside of DC, is the bluest, most gorgeous lake in the area. It’s worth the drive to this beautiful sapphire lake this summer.
Deep Creek Lake is a man-made lake located in Garrett County, Maryland, which is about a three hour drive from the city. Nestled between gorgeous mountain ranges, this incredible lake is the picture of natural beauty.

There’s about a mile of shoreline where you can sunbathe, play and stroll and splash in the gorgeous blue water.

The park is also home to the Discovery Center, where you can enjoy hands-on exhibits and learn about the local flora and fauna and wildlife in the area.

Outside of the park and all around the lake, there are boat tours, water sport rentals, boat rentals, rafting and tubing rentals. There’s also plenty of restaurants and shops to explore.

Hikers can enjoy exploring the many trails and hikes around the lake and up into the mountains.

You may want to stay a few days down at Deep Creek and explore the surrounding areas. Camping is available at Deep Creek Lake State Park and there are plenty of rental properties, hotels and resorts in the area that are perfect for a weekend getaway.
