The Detroit House of Corrections was once one of the most notorious prisons Michigan. Today, it is a ruined husk. This abandoned maximum security facility once held a motley assortment of the state’s criminals, but now holds nothing but a chilling atmosphere, peeling paint, and plenty of vintage finds. The prison opened in 1861. In 1920, it was converted to a prison camp where inmates slept in tents.
