Did you know that there were caves in the Louisiana landscape? If you’re anything like me, probably not. It’s easy to overlook the incredible variety of landforms that are found in the deep wilderness of Kisatchie National Park. But for those that are looking for an adventure, it’s a great place to explore with friends or even on your own. (Just make sure if you’re going out in this weather you are prepared for heat!)

This cave, called Wolf Rock Cave, can be found just south of Fort Polk.

There are some fun climbing opportunities in these parts, as well as some class 2 white water rapids nearby.

The video below helps to illuminate some of the features of these caves that you may not have realized existed in Louisiana:

Can you believe that? I’m still shocked that there were any caves like this in Louisiana. And did you know we have some waterfalls as well? (Not as many as a lot of states, but certainly some.) You can read all about an amazing waterfall in Louisiana by clicking here.
