If you want to party with Portlanders this weekend, you have got to attend the Big Float on Saturday, July 15th. This epic event aimed at getting Portlanders in our river, the annual event is a fundraiser for the Human Access Project, and a great opportunity to float with up to 3,000 of your fellow residents right through the city.
Beginning with a Beach Bash and Cleanup event, the Big Float kicks off from 8 am to noon. Participants in the cleanup receive free entry to the big event.

Floater’s will take off from the newly opened Poet’s Beach, under the Marquam Bridge.

From there, they will float down the river to the Tom McCall Bowl Beach where a big beach party will take place.

Complete with a music barge, live bands, food carts, and a beer and wine garden, this will be one great time on the river. There will also be kids’ activities for families attending the event.

Two parades of floaters will take place throughout the day - at 1 pm and 3 pm - and you are not going to want to miss them.

Two different routes allow you to float your desired time, from 45 minutes to about 1 1/2 hours.

Registration for the Big Float begins at 11 am on Saturday, or you can register online in advance. The cost to participate is $10.

This day of fun and entertainment is a perfect community building event, and one that you can feel good about attending. Did I mention there will be 2 100-foot Slip N’ Slides there too?
