Today we’re going to a small town that you’ll remember from back in 2007. In a town seemingly all by itself, there sits an incredibly unique attraction that is, well, a hole in the ground. Do you know where we’re going? Greensburg!

Build in 1887, this giant hand-dug well is the world’s largest hand-dug well. It originally provided water to local railroads and was a municipal water source until 1932.

After the tragic tornado in 2007, the town was wiped almost clean and had to start over again. Including the well museum!

It sits at 109 feet deep and 32 feet wide, which is a lot to think about digging when you don’t have power tools.

It’s now bright and well-lit inside, and features plenty of information on its creation as well as Greensburg’s history and future as a sustainable community.
