So many abandoned sites in the Baltimore area… so little time. The following spot is located outside of the city in the town of Laurel, Maryland. If you’re into abandoned places, then you’ll want to read on to learn more about Forest Haven.
The Forest Haven facility was opened all the way back in 1925. You wouldn’t know it from its current condition, but this place used to be quite impressive with a gym, chapel, theater, and a handful of doctors onsite.

Patients with intellectual disabilities were encouraged to come here for 24/7 care. It seemed too good to be true… and it was.

Soon, there weren’t enough doctors and nurses to go around and patient’s needs were left in the cold. Reports of neglect, abuse, and even death occurred.

Forest Haven shut down in 1991 but its remnants still remain, now only visited by brave urban explorers and the occasional vandal.

The hallways are littered with decay and graffiti.

Ceilings crumble all around the premises, making this a very dangerous place to explore.

Perhaps the creepiest part of all is the morgue. A stretcher and body refrigerator still stand, leaving a grave reminder of all who perished here.

No one knows when or if this abandoned asylum will ever be demolished. For now it stands as an eerie reminder of the past.
