Located in the shadow of Fort Rock just a mile away, the Fort Rock Homestead Museum is a one of a kind ghost town where you’ll find a collection of historic abandoned buildings that were transported to this spot from all over the area.

When you’re ready, head to the next stop: dinner. From the ghost town, it’s a 30 minute drive to the Cowboy Dinner Tree, a remote, old-timey restaurant on a historic ranch in the middle outside of Silver Lake.

As you step into the restaurant, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported back in time. You’ll have the choice between two entrees: a 32 ounce steak or a whole roasted chicken along with plenty of fresh bread rolls, beans, salad, and more. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time, and bring cash or a check. If you want to extend your trip, you can rent a rustic cabin on the ranch overnight.
