Not too far from Baltimore lies an island beach! I know, it’s hard to believe, but it’s absolutely true. Read on to learn more about this nearby beach that’s worth the journey.

The address for Hart-Miller Island State Park is technically in Essex, but it’s not a place you can get to by car.

You can only reach this 1,100 acre island by boat. Or if you’re a skilled kayaker, head over from Rocky Point Park or North Point State Park. Be aware that water can get choppy in this area.

On your journey to the island, you’ll see that this place is popular for fishing, or “party boats.” It’s definitely a good spot for a fun summer day trip.

The sprawling beach has a gorgeous view of the water and there’s plenty of room to spread out your towel and soak in the sun.

If you’re into hiking, the island also has trails for exploring. You can even stay overnight here any time from May 1st to September 30th.
