Are you craving some peace, quiet, and tranquility in your life? Me too… Fortunately for us in Colorado, we don’t have to spend an arm and a leg for expensive airfare to an exotic island on the other side of the world; all we have to do is visit to this remote and isolated Colorado location that is positively breathtaking.

Welcome to Snowmass Lake: An incredible lake situated below Snowmass Mountain that will make you think you have left Colorful Colorado for your own private oasis.

Not only is the water itself picturesque, so are its surroundings, which feature the iconic 14,099 foot Snowmass Mountain, mature tress, and colorful meadows galore.

The walk to the lake may seem a bit daunting (an 18.3-mile out and back trail), but trust us; the work it takes is worth the reward!

Did we mention that the trail to the lake is pretty amazing in and of itself?

TripAdvisor

The trail to Snowmass Lake is open June through September (meaning you will have to wait until summer to experience this stunner), is rated difficult, and is only recommended for hiking, walking, and horseback riding.

(Bummed that you can’t experience the lake for another few months? Me too… but look at it this way: we now have more time to practice and prepare for the challenging hike!)

Access to the lake (via the Maroon-Snowmass Trail) can be found at the popular Maroon Lake or off Divide Road near Snowmass Village.
