When the temperature rises above 80 degrees, us Portlanders seek refuge anywhere cool we can manage. This fountain tucked away in the Pearl District is the perfect place to spend a hot summer day. Play in the water, sit in the shade, and enjoy the sights and sounds of Portland life at this fun park in the heart of it all.

Open since 2002, this park is one of the centerpieces of summer fun in NW Portland.

Featuring square rocks that were originally designed as steps without water, the water feature was added to prevent skateboarding on the stones.

The water ended up being one of the main features of the park, drawing families from all over for summertime fun.

The rising and receding water occurs several times per hour, allowing for plenty of fun for young and old.

Plenty of trees throughout the park make it a perfect place to bring a blanket and stay awhile.

Colorful 30-foot modern totem poles flank the park and add character. Providing a touch of art in neighborhood, these totems are also functional, as they hide the steel supports from the streetcar.

Right in the center of the Pearl District, the streetcar passes on either side of the park, making it easily accessible by public transportation, and it’s a good thing because parking is at a premium in the area.

Named after William Jamison, an art gallery owner and early proponent of the Pearl District who has since passed, his vision of the community he wanted to develop lives on in his namesake park.
