Southern California may be known for its magnificent beaches, but we locals know that we also have some pretty epic lakes that are worthy of exploring. Here’s one of my favorite lakes in SoCal that offers the perfect setting for an afternoon near the water where you will be surrounded by beauty and nature.

You’ll want to head to the San Bernardino National Forest to find one of my favorite lakes in all of SoCal – Jenks Lake.

Located near picturesque Angelus Oaks in San Bernardino County, you’ll find the drive to Jenks Lake to be a scenic delight. Take your time and enjoy the beauty all around you.

When you arrive, just head straight to the parking lot. Once you park, you’ll take these stairs straight to the lake. Now isn’t that a marvelous view to see as you descend the steps?

Take a stroll out on the pier and look at the glorious view. And take a moment to breathe in that fresh mountain air. Aaaaah….so refreshing!

Depending on the time of your visit you might see lots of folks on the pier fishing. So go ahead and bring your pole if you have one and join the fun.

And don’t forget to pack a picnic lunch so you can dine under the beautiful SoCal sky on a sunny afternoon. You’ll find tons of picnic tables to choose from.
