Arizona’s cities have been making the news recently and for good reason. Within the past year, places like Ajo, Bisbee, and Prescott have made national news for their unique cultures, beautiful views, and historical sites. Well, we can add another Arizona city to that list of the best in the country.

Lake Havasu City was at the top of the list for top waterfront towns in the country, as reported by Havasu News. Surprised? Well, you shouldn’t be!

Sitting on the banks of the Colorado River and at the edge of the Mojave Desert, Lake Havasu City is the perfect spot for a weekend trip. It’s actually that contrasting beauty of the rugged mountains and shimmering waters that creates a charm you won’t find elsewhere.

When you think about it, it’s not surprising that Lake Havasu City was added to the list. Its history stems from the desire to create a resort town in the desert, a place that would feel a bit like paradise during the winter months with plenty of sunshine and rugged mountain views right along a major river.

The city is a popular destination in the spring and fall months as well, since the weather is mild and there is plenty of sun.

Most of the action takes place on the water, where you can go boating, swimming, and fishing on the Colorado River and Lake Havasu.

We also can’t forget mentioning the World’s Largest Antique! The London Bridge, a Victorian-era structure that spanned the River Thames, was purchased, dismantled brick by brick, and reassembled in Lake Havasu City in 1967. It cost city founder Robert McCulloch a whopping $2,460,000 overall!

You’ll also want to visit the glistening white beaches at Lake Havasu State Park, which look absolutely stunning and inviting.
