Ohio is home to multiple caverns and aboveground caves that are perfect for hikers and natural wonder enthusiasts to explore. And by now, you’ve probably explored (or are at least familiar with) popular caves and caverns such as Old Man’s Cave and the Ohio Caverns. But you might not know that central Ohio is home to yet another historic natural wonder that you can explore.

Formed by an underground river cutting through solid limestone rock, these caverns were formed millions of years ago, making them an exciting natural wonder to explore.

Along the way, you’ll pass through winding, lighted passageways that lead into several spacious rooms.

It is believed that the Wyandotte Indians once used the caverns as shelter from the weather and their enemies. Pictured is the room that contains “Council Rock,” where the council met and the flat rock on the floor functioned as a work bench.

Above ground, you’ll also find plenty of other things to see and do.

For instance, you can stroll through Frontier Town…

…or even mine for gems. On site, you’ll find a large sluice where several people can mine. It’s fun the whole family can enjoy.

You can also play miniature golf for $5 a person, which is another fun family or group activity to do.

If you bring kids, you’ll definitely want to check out the Animal Encounter, which features 50,000-square-feet of friendly animals to pet and feed. The cost is just $1 per person and the exhibit is open from 11 .a.m to 5 p.m.
