This once-famed diner in Lawrence, New Jersey sat abandoned for almost 30 years. YouTube channel “TheUnknownCameramanExtras” filmed some amazing footage of this crumbling establishment, which was once a local landmark.

Read a bit about the history of the diner (including a unique opportunity to actually own this historic building for free) and check out the video below.

The Giordano Diner is one of only five surviving diners built by the New Jersey Mountain View Diner company.

It hasn’t been open since the 1980s. Unfortunately, the land on which the diner sits has been purchased by a developer who plans on building a strip mall at the location.

However, the developer actually offered free ownership of the diner to anyone who was willing to remove it before the 16-acre area was redeveloped.

This story has a happy ending. The diner was moved to Hamilton, New Jersey before the slated demolition date. It has been restored, and now serves as a classroom space for vocational training. Do you think this is a fitting fate for the beautiful diner?
