This trail in Oregon has just been named one of the best on Earth by National Geographic.
The Pacific Crest Trail will take you through 2,650 miles of beautiful mountain vistas and dramatic valleys. It runs alongside the Appalachian Trail and the Continental Divide Trail. It’s one of the great thru-hikes of North America, and showcases the splendor of the Sierra and Cascade ranges.

Obviously, this is no simple day hike. This trek will take you across the country, through seven national parks and countless national forests and wildernesses. You’ll start off around the Mojave desert, move through Forester Pass between Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, meander through the Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park, see the volcanoes of the Cascade Mountains and finally reach the E.C. Manning Provincial Park in British Columbia.

If are going to attempt the whole trail, you’ll likely want to start off near the Mexican border in April. Most people don’t attempt to tackle the whole trail in one go, but even touring a small portion of this route is guaranteed to leave you with memories that will last a lifetime. Not to mention some pretty epic photographs.
