Oklahomans love good food. Period. They are picky and skeptical when something new comes along to try. They like their staple foods and drinks, so don’t mess with them. They won’t be the ones ordering a seaweed salad with sprouts and mango, but you will find them ordering a house salad with ranch dressing.  Of course not everyone is going to love everything on here but, for the most part, if you’re from the Sooner state, you’re going to love something on this list.  From great BBQ to a Sonic Cherry Limeade, these are an Okie’s favorites:

  1. Steak

flickr/james We love our meat! Warm up the grill or dine at a steakhouse, either way we will take it.

  1. Sonic Cherry Limeade and Tater Tots

flickr/kendra It’s hard to go very long without a classic cherry limeade and tater tots. With many locations in Oklahoma, a Sonic is just around the corner.

  1. Fried Chicken

flickr/mike delgaudio It has to be good, greasy and the skin cooked just right. From homemade to drive-thru, fried chicken is a favorite.

  1. Salad With Ranch Dressing

flickr/jeff I don’t think you will find a restaurant in Oklahoma that doesn’t serve a classic ranch salad. You just can’t go wrong with ranch.

  1. Quiktrip Fountain Drink

facebook/quiktrip A favorite place to stop in and grab a cold drink. With SO many options at QT, it is hard to beat.

  1. Fried Okra

flickr/julia frost Of course we fry our vegetables. Okra is not the same unless it has been breaded and deep fried.

  1. BBQ

flickr/Paolo Valdemarin Mouth watering BBQ in Oklahoma is a no-brainer.

  1. Pizza

flickr/james Who doesn’t love pizza? Not Okies.

  1. Chick-fil-a

flickr/link576 Drive by any Chick-Fil-A and you will see Oklahmans love this place. The lines wrap around the building at peak hours.

  1. Mashed Potatoes

flickr/Jinx McCombs With or without skin, mashed potatoes are a side dish you can’t go without.

  1. Beer

flickr/megan morris If it’s cold, it’s a favorite.

  1. Tex-Mex

flickr/jd hancock Ground beef, white tortillas and a side of queso are menu favorites for Oklahoma Tex-Mex.

What other favorites should we add to this list?
