Considered the “Disneyland of the Desert,” Legend City was an amusement park located at the border of Tempe and Phoenix, near Papago Park and the Phoenix Zoo. The park opened its doors in 1963 to much fanfare from the community and brought two decades of fun to the Valley of the Sun. One little team of people in Clarksburg is giving something back to the community. Keith Mason built a steam engine railroad in 1974 on his property. He assembled a committed team to keep the Locust Heights & Western Railroad running, and their love and passion shines through. They’ve been providing free rides on the property ever since.
