Most Rhode Islanders have encountered at least one person who thinks the state is an actual island. While Aquidneck Island was formerly popularly known as Rhode Island, it can be difficult to explain that the Ocean State is just another state like any other, just much smaller. Fortunately, Little Rhody does offer quite a few stunning islands that are just waiting to be explored. One in particular is so remote and offers such natural beauty that it is the perfect place to find peace and quiet like never before....

I think it is important to give mention and honor the loss of one of our own recently. As you may know, Fargo police officer Jason Moszer, a six-year veteran with the police force, gave his life while in the line of duty on February 10th during a standoff in north Fargo. This has not happened in Fargo in over 130 years. As I’m writing this now, his funeral is currently underway....

We’ve got archaeological ruins scattered across the state, each with their own unique backstory. Hanford High School is one of six buildings with ruins remaining on the old Hanford nuclear site....

The landscape of America was once crisscrossed with railroad tracks. Today, the golden age of train travel has passed, and many antique locomotives are languishing in train graveyards such as the one in this video by YouTube channel “Your purkz.” Look through the pictures for a preview of the video, and then be sure to check out the footage at the bottom for yourself. There’s certainly no shortage of charming small towns in Washington. We’ve got our Bavarian village (Leavenworth), our Little Norway (Poulsbo) and our Victorian town (Port Townsend), just to name a few. But our little Dutch-influenced city, Lynden, is sometimes overlooked. And all it takes is one weekend spent here to realized how underrated it is.
