Lime, Oregon was once a stop along The Oregon Trail, but these days, it’s a ghost town. The town was established in 1899 and made use of nearby limestone deposits. This abandoned cement factory was operated by Sun Portland Cement Company and produced more than 1,200,000 barrels of cement each year for the growing metro city. When the limestone quarries began to run out, the production plant was moved to the city of Nelson, and the Lime factory closed its doors in 1980....
