Wharton State Forest is the largest tract of land in the New Jersey state park system. At 122,880 acres, it offers dozens of hiking trails, lakes, rivers, ruins and several campsites. Although Nebraska only has eight official state parks, we have many, many state recreation areas. This one in far northeastern Nebraska opened in late July 2015, making it one of the newest in a collection of wonderful places that we can go to experience and enjoy the outdoors.
