The trails that lead to this one unusual cave have been around for quite a while. In fact, these trails were used by emigrants during the westward expansion. The Oregon, California and Mormon Trails all lead to a large sandstone cliff near Guernsey known as Register Cliff. Immigrants traveling the trails would stop and camp here while letting their livestock rest in the nearby pasture. The travelers also inscribed their names upon the rocks....

Parts of North Carolina are under flood warning after a monster storm system drenched the state with the worst rainfall since Hurricane Matthew in 2016. Raleigh was hit particularly hard. More than eight inches of rain had fallen in the city area by the early hours of Tuesday. Power outages swept the state in the wake of the storm, but most residents had regained electricity by Wednesday morning. Lots of places in New Mexico offer farm-to-table dining. But most of them don’t serve you fresh food at a restaurant that’s actually located on a farm. That’s what sets Roots Farm Café apart. This adorable restaurant is tucked away in the town of Tijeras, on a horse-powered farm. Yelp/K B. Tijeras is a community of 541 people, which is known for its musical highway. Although the town is only about 15 miles east of Albuquerque, and the farm is close to I-40, it feels a world away from Duke City....

As far as lakes go, Mirror Lake is tiny. It’s only three acres, but it may just be the prettiest three acres in the Natural State. Mirror Lake is the result of the damming of Blanchard Springs, which means the lake is constantly spring fed by the cool 58 degree water flowing from the gorgeous Blanchard Springs Caverns. The dam, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, provides a beautiful two-tiered waterfall that’s absolutely stunning....

The tiny Nevada town of Yerington—formerly known as Pizen Switch and Greenfield—was named in 1894 and incorporated in 1907.
