Back when family farming was the norm, having dinner on a farm was not an exotic concept. But these days, with many farms being sold off and fewer people pursuing the farming life, it is exotic to eat dinner on the farm. Well, there is at least one place in Wisconsin where you can have a hearty meal on the farm. The restaurant is called Pine Brook Farm, and it is a little-known place with great food that is sure to charm you.

Pine Brook Farm was once a 480-acre farm used as a retreat for the original owner and his friends. The next generation raised beef and dairy cattle on the land for years. So it went for three more generations until an 85 acre section of the farm was sold in 2012.

The new owners lovingly and carefully turned the old farmhouse into a rustic but elegant restaurant serving the type of down-home food you might expect when visiting relatives.

Plenty of the original farmhouse details have been preserved; you’ll see lots of reminders that this was once a working farm. Entering the dining room feels a lot like walking into someone’s home.

One thing you’ll find here that you may not expect is the healthy menu. The owners and chef work hard to come up with menu items that are both tasty and good for you, using fresh and local ingredients.

Special events are a frequent occurrence here, with delectable menus designed for Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, fondue parties, and five-course wine dinners. Not that the everyday menu isn’t special…you’ll find treats like burgers, flat bread pizzas, steak, and even a vegetarian burger, all prepared fresh.

Although there are other farms around, Pine Brook is far enough from Spooner that you’ll feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful, lush countryside surrounds the restaurant on all sides, making the experience even more relaxing and memorable.
