Virginia’s proximity to the coast lends itself to all sorts of wonderful advantages: gorgeous beachfronts, unique landscapes, and hidden gems just waiting to be discovered. While most are familiar with the greater Hampton Roads area, not everyone has taken time to explore the towns and communities nearby. One such place is Poquoson, an independent community made up of 15 square miles of coastal beauty.

Let’s take a look:

Poquoson is situated within the Hampton Roads metropolitan area and officially became an incorporated town in 1952.

What Poquoson lacks in land mass it makes up for in coastal allure. Nearly 80% of the city’s square milage is water.
