If you frequently travel along I-90 near Avon, Ohio, you’re likely familiar with a sea of sunflowers that’s downright enchanting—and if you don’t frequently travel this interstate, stumbling upon it will likely take you by surprise.

Prayers From Maria Sunflower Field honors the life a little girl who died of a rare form of cancer, and it’s one of the most beautiful places in all of Ohio.

The stunning, 50-acre sunflower field is planted each year by The Prayers From Maria Foundation.

The best time to view the field is within the first three weeks of September, during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

According to the organization’s website, Maria’s Field of Hope was first planted in 2014 to honor the life of Maria McNamara, as well as other courageous children who are battling cancer and those we have lost.

The field also serves to draw attention to the lack of funding for childhood cancer, and to inspire donations to the cause.

If you drive by the field today, you’ll likely see some flowers still standing. But this is definitely a gorgeous place you’ll want to put on your bucket list for next summer. <3
