It’s not hard to find an incredible beach in Idaho, but it can be hard to find one that isn’t full of people in the summer! Idaho has plenty of secluded swimming spots, but the tricky part is finding them. Remember the phrase “It’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey”? Well, you might agree that this beach really embraces that idea since half the fun in this secret beach is finding it. However, finding yourself at a remote beach in the beautiful Idaho wilderness at the end is the best reward!
The only way to access this beach is by boat or hiking. The trail is called Navigation Trail and is located on Priest Lake near Bonners Ferry, Idaho. It is a 9.8 scenic out and back trail that is well worth the effort with the beautiful beach it features!

The trailhead is located at Beaver Creek Campground, 11.8 miles north of Nordman at Priest Lake. Travel past the Granite Falls area and continue straight on until Road #655, then turn right. There are many signs marking the trail, so you don’t have to worry about getting lost!

The hike itself is like something out of a dream. You’ll instantly feel removed in this serene forest environment. The first three miles of the hike meander through thick forestry before arriving at the lake itself.

The trail itself is wide and flat. It’s fairly easy making it a great outing for families. A few campgrounds are dispersed along the side of the trail, so this could be a great overnight hike!

Camping out provides a great option for you to truly take your time and enjoy the scenery. However, the hike can definitely be done in just a day if that’s what you prefer. Either way, the scenery is so great you’ll never want to leave!

You’ll encounter many fallen trees, which just adds to the dream-like environment. You might even wonder if you accidentally wandered into an enchanted forest, instead.

The trail even adds a bit of history to your hike as you pass by the remnants of an old trappers log cabin.
