South Dakota is a truly wonderful place to live, but we do have our fair share of dark stories and disturbing mysterious. Throughout the years, many horrific events have occurred in our state, but perhaps none as alarming and perplexing as the deaths at Rapid Creek.

Just 10 days later when the second body was found, the city started to become alert and take notice. By the year 2000, this Rapid City River was the site of the unusual and unexplained deaths of 11 people.

The Rapid City Police Department concluded that foul play couldn’t be proved, as there were no signs of trauma. Never-the-less, this string of deaths in such a short amount of time lead many to believe that these occurrences were by no means accidental. Many residents of Rapid City, the Native American community and families of the victims strongly feel that that the deaths were not properly investigated. They also question whether the suspicious deaths and lack of justice had something to do with the race of the victims.

Meanwhile, the community and families of the victims are left to mourn and grieve the loss of those 11 individuals who lost their lives. It has been nearly 19 years since these tragic and mysterious deaths, yet these occurrences have certainly left a stain on the history of Rapid City.
