Spending a night in the Maine outdoors doesn’t have to mean sleeping on the ground. Tents are great and camping is fun, but it’s not the only way to live it up under the stars. We recently came across this wonderful treehouse, now in its second season of availability. So, the next time you’re yearning for the outdoors – consider experiencing Maine from a different point of view and take it to the trees instead.

This unique structure is actually TWO structures connected by a private deck.

The deck offers beautiful views and a place to relax among the trees.

The home has been named “Madawaska,” meaning “where two rivers join.”

AirBNB

The name is perfect given that the treehouse is located near where the Back River meets the Kennebec River.

AirBNB

Located behind the Back River is conservation land and a short canoe ride will bring visitors to the Kennebec River.

AirBNB

If relaxation is your goal, you won’t need to go far from the decks and balconies throughout the home.

Or, choose to take a break in the hammock underneath.

The builders have used vintage and salvaged materials wherever possible, making the treehouse truly one with both nature AND Maine.

One of the two structures in this treehouse includes the bedroom featuring an entire wall of south facing windows.

These windows allow you to wake up with some gorgeous river views.

The bedroom can also be converted into a room with two twin beds.

The other structure includes the small kitchen and dining area which also comes with incredible windows.

And, there’s even a small full bathroom which takes this experience from camping to absolute glamping.

When you get tired of hiding out in your own personal treehouse, you can head to the Reid State Park beaches.

And you’ll definitely want to enjoy the lobster, lobster rolls and other seafood at Five Islands Lobster Co.

A stay at the Madawaska requires a three night minimum, though if the calendar shows a two night gap, you’re encouraged to ask directly.

The price of about $170 a night makes this a special-occasion type place, but once you see the view there’s a good chance you’ll decide that any day ending in “y” is a special occasion!
